Camosun College alum and teacher elected as Saanich mayor
Camosun College alum and former Political Science teacher Dean Murdock was elected as the new mayor of Saanich on Saturday, October 15. Murdock received 13,631 votes; it was a close race against incumbent Fred Haynes, who received 13,479 votes. Murdock’s platform focuses on creating affordable housing, building accessible neighbourhoods, decreasing our environmental footprint, and creating more transparency and accountability in municipal government.
ClassRoom Restaurant opens at Interurban
The ClassRoom Restaurant is a fine-dining restaurant in Huber Hall on the Interurban campus that employs students from Camosun’s Professional Cook 2 program. You can make reservations online for ClassRoom—which opened on Thursday, October 13—and check out various meals and drinks made by Camosun students. Chargers basketball teams hit courts
The season’s first Camosun Chargers’ basketball games take place on Friday, November 4, at 6 pm and 8 pm at PISE. Both the men’s and women’s teams will be playing. See camosun.ca/chargers for more information.
