Lose some, lose some: Our October 15, 1996 issue had a story about how, the previous year, Camosun College decided to close for a day for the National Day of Action, where students walk out to participate in a rally. While one’s first reaction might be that this was the college showing support for its students, it goes to show how multifaceted anything can be: concerns about the closure ranged from the lack of lead time the college gave about the closure, the fact that all services—including admissions and computer labs—were closed, and concerns from “the outside community concerning taxpayers’ dollars being used to support such an event.”
Camosun through the years: This issue featured a story about Camosun College celebrating its 25-year anniversary. The college is celebrating 50 years here in 2021; head to our site to read our story “50 things Camosun College needs to do in its next 50 years” to read what our staff and volunteers think needs to happen before the college hits its next big milestone.
All aboard the CCSS board: This issue featured a story talking about the Camosun College Student Society elections, and look at how well this is all working out: head to the middle of this issue in your hands to read the platform statements from the students running in the student society’s fall election this year.
