Camosun to extend library hours

Camosun has announced that the Lansdowne Library will have extended hours in December. The library will be open on Saturdays (December 5, 12, and 19) from 11 am to 6 pm, and will stay open until 8 pm from Monday, December 14 to Friday, December 18, and on Monday, December 21.

Camosun reopens Interurban Bookstore

The Interurban Bookstore will be reopened as of Monday, December 7. Its hours are Monday to Friday, 11 am to 3:45 pm, from December 7 to December 18. January hours will be announced soon.

Camosun alumnus designs new college logo

To celebrate its upcoming 50th anniversary next year, former Camosun student Dylan Thomas designed an anniversary logo for the college. Thomas, who is also the City of Victoria’s Indigenous artist in residence, utilized the local Indigenous legends and myths surrounding the name “Camosun” for his design. Camosun building gets awarded

Camosun College’s Alex and Jo Campbell Centre for Health and Wellness recently won the Judge’s Choice Award at the Victoria Real Estate Board’s Annual Commercial Building Awards competition. The college took home the award for the building’s design and impact on the community. Camosun officially opened the building in September of last year. The awards, which have been happening since 1991, take place every November.

Interest on federal student loans eliminated temporarily

The federal government recently announced that interest on the federal portion of Canada Student Loans and Canada Apprentice Loans for 2021-22 will be eliminated. The announcement was made earlier this week as part of the Trudeau government’s $25.1-billion health and economic package to assist in the financial crisis brought on by COVID-19.
