For obvious reasons, we took a break from printing copies of the paper this summer. One of the benefits that we lost there is that we usually make it very clear in the issues that you, Camosun College students, can—and should!—write for Nexus. So allow me to take a minute now to explain what normally would have been in those much-missed (they’ll return, don’t worry) print copies of the newspaper.
Nexus is put together entirely by Camosun students, with one non-student staffer (that’s me). You don’t need to have any experience to write for us, but you do need to have passion, you need to have opinions, you need to have a burning desire to find answers.
Or maybe you just want to drink beer and write about it. We can help you there, too.
From hard-hitting news stories to columns about food, from cartoons to interviews with your favourite bands that are rolling through town, we’ve got it all. Well, as long as we have writers to write about it, that is.
This is where you come in: all you have to do is email me at editor@nexusnewspaper.com and we’ll get you started. Maybe you want to cover student politics, or maybe you want to interview a director of a local play. Or maybe you just want to drink some beer and write about it for us. Whatever you want, we can train you and get you published in no time. It’s fun, it’s a rewarding part of your time at college, and it’s great work experience.
Come contribute to an award-winning newspaper; come write for Nexus.
