BC premier John Horgan announced on Wednesday, May 6 a detailed plan for the gradual re-opening of the province, and part of that plan includes post-secondary classes.
Phase three of the re-opening plan will take place from June to September, provided transmission rates of COVID-19 remain low or in decline; part of that phase involves allowing a mix of online and in-person classes for post-secondary institutions, starting in September.
A spokesperson for Camosun College declined to comment, saying that they needed more information before they could fully understand the implications of the announcement for the post-secondary sector.
As of Thursday, May 7, there are 2,255 cases of COVID-19 in British Columbia; 1,494 of these cases have recovered and there have been 124 deaths, for a total of 637 active cases in the province.
