K-os, The Dirty Mags
Thursday, November 24,
Club 9ONE9

K-os lived up to his name when he recently performed at Club 9ONE9 and fired up the audience with his energy and talent.

K-os kicked off a tour here in Victoria alongside The Dirty Mags, and both were in top form. As soon as K-os got on stage the audience was hyped and could barely keep up with the freestyle he was dishing out. He was fully equipped with a guitarist, bassist, drummer, and DJ, which gave the show a diverse dynamic.

Pretty soon he was jamming of cover of Naughty by Nature’s “O.P.P.,” then followed up with his tweaked version of Dr. Dre and Eminem’s classic “Forgot About Dre,” replacing “forgot about Dre” with “forgot about K.” K-os also covered “Yesterday” by The Beatles, telling the audience that The Beatles are currently his favorite band in the world.

Not only did K-os show his talent in freestyling and cover songs, he also showed that he knows how to beat-box well… extremely well. He was beat-boxing along with the band, showing the audience that he can also vocalize artistically without using words.

K-os describes his music as a fusion of rock and roll and hip-hop. At one point, he claimed he needed to get the rocker out of him and screamed into the mic, then said, “Sorry, I’m a rapper, I shouldn’t be doing this.” He then continued to scream and rock out more until he jumped into the crowd and did a little bit of crowd surfing.

K-os made his set complete with some of his classics, like “Man I Used to Be,” “Crucial,” “Superstar Part Zero,” “Sunday Morning,” and finished off the show’s encore with a powerful performance of “Crabbuckit.”
